The Shrine Circus is coming to Omaha!
The World’s ONLY Dancing Elephant is coming to Omaha for the Tangier Shrine Circus!
An Array of Entertainers and Animals Visit the Omaha Civic Auditorium February 23rd-February 26th, 2012.
The 83rd annual Tangier Shrine Circus, one of the area’s largest attractions, displays a glittering galaxy of some of the most renowned circus acts in the world.
• Puppies and Ponies Fourth generation animal trainer Laura Herriott fills the ring with her revue of dogs and ponies, plus a dromedary camel, a draft horse, a llama and some miniature stallions. This bizarre mix of animals work in tandem to entertain.
• Tigers and Pachyderms One of the world’s foremost elephant and tiger trainers, Brian Franzen demonstrates the incredible power, yet docility found in these exotic specimens. He’ll be bringing a white tiger to Omaha, plus ‘Oka’ a full grown Asian elephant who can balance on a ball. Between performances, circus goers will be able to visit the elephants at the lower level Circus Fun Fair.
• Magical Transformations Romanian artists Christian And Elena change their clothes faster than you can say their names.
• Flying and Flipping. The Flying Preciados demonstrate dexterity and strength as they ‘fly through the air with the greatest of ease’. These Mexican brothers do double duty as teeterboard artistes.
• Rolling Globes The Campas family showcase balance and agility as they stand atop large balls and move them up and down inclines.
• A Car with a Mind Jeffrey and his Jalopy, a 1927 Model T Ford that still runs and has its own idea of fun.
• Shrine Circus Clowns and Keystone Kops, and a collection of camels, llamas, ponies and puppies are also set to perform.
• A super-sized Circus Fun Fair will cover BOTH lower levels of the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Games, elephant and camel rides, face painting, and a petting zoo offer hours of fun for circus goers of all ages.
In addition to 8 public performances, the Shrine Circus also has 2 private performances, one for area students and the Special People Performance for the area’s disadvantaged. Nearly 55,000 attended the Shrine Circus in 2011.
Shrine Circus performances are Thursday, February 23rd at 7 pm; Friday, February 24th at 5 and 8 pm; Saturday, February 25th at 12 noon, 4 and 8 pm; and Sunday, February 26th at 1 and 4:30 pm. Tickets are on sale at the CenturyLink Center, the Omaha Civic Box Office, all TicketMaster locations and at area HyVee stores. Ticket prices start at $12 for general admission.
